About Us

Brian and I were married on May 19th, 2007. Shortly thereafter, we moved to Nevada, MO to begin our life together. Brian works for 3M as an Advanced Product Engineer and I am blessed to be a stay at home mom. Our little boy Gentry was born on January 26, 2011. He is the most beautiful, perfect little boy and we are so lucky he is ours. We have a boxer named Lucy who we treat like our child as well. She is still a little jealous of Gentry but we know one day they will be buddies.

I dare you NOT to laugh.....

Tonight, while trying to get Lucy's attention (she wasn't listening, as usual....you know, dogs have selective hearing too) I snapped my fingers at her. Gentry cracked up laughing! He thought it was hilarious! I grabbed the camera and started filming. The end result is a minute plus of Gentry in hysterics. I dare you not to laugh...I bet you can't do it!

Again with the silly faces....

This is the series of photos that I managed to capture yesterday when I told Gentry to smile. He is such a little stinker! I kept clicking away, hoping to catch just ONE sweet little smile. I guess Gentry had other ideas for his photo shoot. This boy keeps me laughing all the time.

A Few Videos of Mr. Gentry

Gentry has always loved bath time! He loves it even more so now that we just put him in the sink or tub instead of his baby bath tub. With the way he likes to splash, most likely the sink will be off limit from now on. The counter, floor, cabinets and even Brian and I were thoroughly soaked when this bath was over. The high sides of the tub provide a much better barrier between his bath water and everything surrounding it. I am so glad that he enjoys bath time as much as he does!

Gentry is getting so mobile. Although he isn't crawling yet he sure knows how to get where he wants to go. He is pulling himself up, rolling around, scooting on his bottom and on his tummy so it won't be long before he is crawling. I didn't think he would ever crawl with as much as he hated being on his tummy and it wasn't until just recently that he would stay on his stomach for any length of time. I guess there is hope after all. :) His favorite way of getting where he wants to go is by walking. He enjoys zooming around the kitchen in his Jeep and he also LOVES when Brian and I help him walk. He is getting pretty fast too. He will hold onto our hands and slide himself right off of the couch onto the floor. We have to keep our running shoes on because off he will go. He will walk and walk and walk for as long as we let him or until his little legs can't walk anymore. I walked at eight to nine months old so he may be an early walker too. He may just skip crawling altogether. Here is just a sampling of Gentry on the move.

A Few Miscellaneous Photos

As if the previous four posts haven't shown enough of our lives the past few weeks, here are a few more random photos! I just can't get enough of this sweet boy....poor thing always has a camera pointed at him. I'm sure the grandma's don't mind. Am I right?

Aren't my toys supposed to be in here?

Giving me my birthday card!
Gentry's perfect cowlick....so CUTE!

Almost too big for my changing table.

Ummm....what am I supposed to do with this thing?

I LOVE bath time!

Who is that cute baby? (Admiring his 6 month picture)

My first "shiner." He was in too much of a hurry reaching for a toy and lost his balance. Poor thing was so upset. Luckily the mark is gone now!

Napping on daddy.

Still sleepy from my nap on mommy.

Our Visit to Anthony

Last weekend we made the LONG trip to Anthony! My mom and I hosted a bridal shower for on of my very best friends, Alison. It was so great to see her and visit with family. Here are a few pictures from the trip.

We stopped so Gentry could eat and he decided he would drive the rest of the way!

Grandma Linda and her grandbabies!
While mom and I were cooking for the shower, Brian, dad and Gentry were hanging out. They wore the little guy out and he fell asleep just like this!

Visiting Great Grandma Mattingly!

Playing with one of great grandma's MANY owls!

Talking with Great Grandpa Mattingly!

The Many Faces of Gentry

Gentry's expressions are endless. Try as I might, I rarely capture just a smile on this sweet boy. He can be excited and laughing and as soon as I grab the camera he makes some silly face. Here are a few of the many!

What'chu lookin' at Willis?

I WAS NOT about to empty my toy bin!
Huh?

Nope....not gonna smile!

Ahhhhhh......I'm SO excited! (Kind of a smile.)

Cheese! (Okay, it's a smile....a VERY cheesy smile.)

I am SO not happy, mom!

Grandma Vickie, Grandpa Steve and Uncle Eric Visit

A few weekends back, we invited Grandma Vickie, Grandpa Steve and Uncle Eric over to visit. Aunt Courtney couldn't make it because she had to work. Gentry missed her! Here are a few pictures from their visit. (Sorry Grandpa Steve...apparently we missed getting a picture of you with Gentry. We'll make sure to take some when we come visit next weekend.)

Posing with my Grandma Vickie!

Snuggling on Uncle Eric!

Showing grandma how I drive me Jeep!

Lucy loves my Uncle Eric too!

Blue Jean Baby

Although Gentry is normally a Luvs diaper baby (they are the only ones we found that he wouldn't leak out of and hey, they're cheaper so it a win-win) I couldn't resist buying him a pack of the Huggies Little Movers Jean Diapers. They are so stinkin' cute! They look just like a little pair of jean...in diaper form. Below are a few pictures of Gentry modeling them!

How cute is that little bottom?

Just loungin' on mom!

They have little pockets and the logo patch!I really LOVE my jean diapers!

Gentry says "no no no"

Gentry's newest "trick" is saying "no." He can't verbalize it yet, but he sure looks cute shaking his little head. He hasn't figured out what it means yet because you can say anything or ask him anything and his response is always no...even when it should be yes. Silly boy! I definitely am not looking forward to the day when he can actually tell us no!

Gentry's Finished Room

I know I mentioned that Gentry's room was almost complete over two months ago but it actually just got finished last week. There were a few issues with the Etsy shop I ordered the graphic from....like the fact that she sent it to somewhere in Texas first, then sent the wrong thing, then never re-sent the corrected piece when she said she did...so long story short, I requested a refund and politely said I'd never do business with her again. I decided to go through Etsy to begin with so that I could buy from an average person rather than some company and since she was a stay at home mom trying to make a living I chose to buy from her. Bad idea! By the way, if you're ever needing a vinyl wall graphic, do not purchase from Expressingyou on Etsy! Anyways, Brian stayed late one evening and made the graphic. This one is even more special since daddy made it for Gentry. We LOVE it! Below is the picture of the graphic on the wall and a picture of his beautiful cubby/shelf that was made for him.

Gentry's cool wall art made by daddy! (Note the change in crib bumper from the previous post. Since Gentry began rolling and scooting we switched out his sports bumper for a breathable mesh bumper. Not as stylish but much safer.)

Love, love, love his shelf!

The last month or so...

Where has the time gone? Gentry celebrated his half birthday on July 26th! I can't believe that in less than six months he'll be one year old. It makes me sad just thinking about it. I am so lucky to get to spend my days with him. I am in awe just how much he has changed in these first six months. He has been sitting independently for the last month or so and would rather sit on the floor and play with his MANY toys than do anything else. He is such a happy little guy all the time. We couldn't have wished for a better baby. He loves his Lucy dog and we know that they will get into plenty of trouble together. Gentry has tried a few foods and so far isn't too fond of them. I made some peas and sweet potatoes for him and he has done alright with those. Peas are definitely not his favorite but I told him he's lucky he's getting fresh homemade peas instead of those jarred ones. Yuck! He would really dislike them then. :) He was also not a fan of avocados or applesauce but he did enjoy carrots, peaches, prunes and bananas. He also LOVES frozen watermelon for his sore gums! Gentry has his six month well baby check-up on August 1st. He is following his growth curve just perfectly in weight and head circumference. He weighted 17 lbs 7 oz and is in the 50th percentile for weight. His head circumference is 17 1/4 inches which is the 50th percentile as well. He shot up from the 75th to the 90th percentile in height and is 27 3/4 inches tall. He is long, lean and perfectly healthy! Below are a few pictures of the last month...enjoy!

Holding on for dear life in Grandma Vickie's bathtub!

I think he thought the drain might suck him down!

He did so well at his first wedding! Such a good boy! Cool dude! Check out my cool new shark towel from Aunt Kayloni and Uncle Lance!
Mmmmm! Prunes, peas and sweet potatoes!Frozen watermelon sure makes my gums feel better!I love my daddy! (Brian's head was soaked after this.) Such a big boy!So happy...ALL the time!
