About Us

Brian and I were married on May 19th, 2007. Shortly thereafter, we moved to Nevada, MO to begin our life together. Brian works for 3M as an Advanced Product Engineer and I am blessed to be a stay at home mom. Our little boy Gentry was born on January 26, 2011. He is the most beautiful, perfect little boy and we are so lucky he is ours. We have a boxer named Lucy who we treat like our child as well. She is still a little jealous of Gentry but we know one day they will be buddies.

Happy Birthday, Gentry

Happy Birthday, sweet Gentry! I can't believe you are ONE today...but not until 10:42 pm tonight! (Let's not rush this.) This past year has flown by and I can't imagine being blessed with any other little boy than you! My little (big) 8 lb 14 oz, dark, curly headed baby boy has grown up so much. At one year old, you:

  • Can say mama, dada, head, moo, yum, doggie and hi. You can kind of say chicken but it sounds like chit chit. (We won't practice this one in public.)

  • Can show us where you head and tummy are.

  • Can wave hi/bye, clap, dance like it's nobody's business, show us "one" when we ask how old you are and high five.

  • Your favorite toy is your stuffed doggie Gibson/Gibby. You sleep with him every night and drag him around everywhere.

  • Love to cuddle, give hugs and kisses.

  • Your favorite book is your musical "Wheels on the Bus" book.

  • When you get tired at night we put you in your crib and you go right to sleep and sleep all night.

  • Love to play "chase."

  • Your favorite foods are cheese, bananas and toast but you'll eat anything.

  • Get SO excited when daddy comes home every night and let out the cutest squeals and giggles.

  • Are a mama's boy and I absolutely LOVE it!

Here is a look back at our first days with you in the hospital!

Just born...seeing our sweet boy for the first time.

Gentry's 1st Birthday Photos

On Sunday, our friend Annie took Gentry's 1st birthday photos. It ended up being the perfect day (except for the CRAZY wind...which wrecked havoc on Gentry's long locks) to be outside. We took some by our fence, by a cool, rustic red wall and by an old Army tank here in town. Besides the crazy hair and Gentry's serious expressions in most of the photos, they turned out awesome. We also took some "cake smash" photos in our living room. We put up some white fabric and put down some vinyl wood grained flooring that Annie had and let Gentry have at it. He LOVED it! We had trouble with the natural lighting in our living room because it was getting dark out but I think they turned out pretty darn good, considering. Annie, we can't thank you enough! And thank you Amy for being Annie's awesome assistant! I just can't believe our sweet little boy will be ONE on Thursday! Here are a few of my favorites (out of 400) from the shoot!

Playing Catch-Up

Wow! Where has the time gone? Yesterday, I realized that I had not updated our blog since I did the Christmas post. That was three(ish) weeks ago. I guess it's true what "they" say, time really does fly when you're having fun. Boy are we having fun in the Sandon house. Gentry is just a ball of energy, always on the go. Since he learned to walk at the beginning of November, he hasn't slowed down one bit. In fact, I think he's sped up. He is almost running these days. New Year's weekend, Brian's mom, sister Courtney and brother Eric came to visit. We had a little surprise party for Eric since he turned 30 on New Year's day. He rarely gets a day off so we enjoyed spending time with him and celebrating his birthday. Gentry can now show you where his tummy and head are but I CANNOT get the little stinker to cooperate for the video camera. Hopefully I'll get it on video soon. We did have a bit of excitement just recently. Gentry made his first trip to the ER. He and Brian had a fall stepping over the baby gate...you know those things you put up to PROTECT your baby...well they can be dangerous too. Brian and Gentry took a fall into the wall across the hallway when Brian's foot got caught on the gate. Gentry had a small cut under his eye and quite a goose egg on his forehead. We weren't sure how bad it was or how hard he really hit so we went to the ER. Gentry checked out just fine and didn't even need stitches. I think the ordeal was harder on Brian than on Gentry. Gentry is still a little bruised but is healing just fine. Check out the photos of the last few weeks below. *Disclaimer-I uploaded the photos backwards so they go from newest to oldest instead of the other way around...which is usually how I post.*

Our always happy, Gentry.
